PhD Expertise and Practical Experience

I first came across Dr. Lonnie Lowery as a listener of Iron Radio back in late 2008. He has both academic experience as a PhD in Exercise Physiology and as a Registered Dietitian. It is also important to mention his competitive experience in bodybuilding for over 20 years winning regional and national competitions. As a young personal trainer, kinesiology student and USAPL powerlifting athlete, Iron Radio was influential in my personal and professional development. I have always enjoyed both the “in the trenches” episodes and the more academic focused episodes. Nutrition Radio gives you a heavier dose of the academic study and research behind sports nutrition, supplements, and the effects of performance enhancing drugs. Thank you Dr. Lonnie for rejoining the podcast world in 2022. Your knowledge, experience, and ability to explain these topics is unrivaled. Nutrition Radio is a new favorite podcast of mine to partner with Iron Radio. I would love to see other PhDs join you for discussion topics and research. Are you be able to cover current research from the ACSM, NSCA, and ISSN conferences each year? If I was still pursuing academia, it would be wonderful to have you as a mentor to me. Do yourself a favor and subscribe

This podcast presents information in highly digestible chunks, (pun intended). Dr. Lowery has a PhD and is an adjunct college professor, he presents information, that on the surface could be somewhat complicated, in a fashion that is easy to understand, no doubt, from his experience in the classroom.
Dr. Lowery was one of the cohosts of an exceptionally long running podcast called
Iron Radio, (still available) he occasionally returns for more of a longform podcast when his schedule allows. The information that he presented on Iron Radio for so many years was instrumental in furthering my knowledge of exercise physiology, and nutrition. The best part of both podcasts is that you are receiving information that has no bias. It is firmly based on the available literature and is presented in a way that is easily understood.
Dr. Lowery has made me a more intelligent lifter and if you listen to this podcast I believe you will become one also. Dr. Lowery, thank you for finding the time to make all of us smarter
